Can Adoptive Moms Breastfeed? June 10, 2007

Few would dispute the advantages of nursing – from antibodies that protect an infant at birth to the health-promoting, disease-preventing nutrients in mother’s milk. Just as importantly, nursing promotes a special bond between mother and child – a bond some might be surprised to learn is not exclusive to biological children and their mothers.

It is not necessary to have been pregnant in order to nurse; adoptive moms can breastfeed.
